Saw something FREE around Austin? Tell us about it. Took a photo? Even better.
FREE in Austin has been a list of FREE things to do since 2009, and the best stuff on it usually comes from somebody who was just there. A FREE concert in a parking lot. A new Little Free Library on your street. A museum day nobody announced.
Send it over and it may end up on the calendar, in The FREE Bee newsletter, or on our social media.
What to send
- A FREE event, class, museum day, market or concert
- A FREE resource: a fridge, a pantry, a library, a clinic, a repair cafe
- A photo or short video from something FREE you went to
- A correction, if we got a time or an address wrong
One rule: it has to actually be FREE to get in. Pay what you can, suggested donation, and ticket required with a fee all get left off, because people have told us that is what FREE should mean here.
Send a photo or video
Upload straight to us. You do not need an account.
Put your credit in the file name, like soco-mural-by-yourhandle.jpg, so we know who to credit on screen.
Tell us about a FREE event or resource
Nothing to upload, just email freeinaustin@gmail.com with what it is, where it is, and when.
Before you send photos or video
The short version: you shot it, or you have the right to share it. You keep owning it. By sending it you are giving FREE in Austin permission to use it on freeinaustin.com, in The FREE Bee newsletter, and on our social media and video, with credit to the name or handle you give us. No payment either way. Change your mind later? Email us and we will take it down.
Please do not send photos of other people’s kids, and do not send anything you found on the internet.
What happens next
Everything gets read, usually within a few days. Events get checked against the organizer’s own page before they go on the calendar, so it may take a bit. If a photo of yours gets used, your handle goes on it.
Thanks for helping keep Austin FREE!
